Turning the Tide – raising awareness of the impact of plastic waste

by

Turning the Tide is a campaign to raise awareness of the impacts of plastic waste, in particular single-use items, on our oceans, beaches and rivers.

Nicola Jenkin is a sustainability consultant with an in depth knowledge of packaging and its environmental impacts. She is passionate about finding solutions to reducing packaging and finding ways to stop it entering the natural environment.

In her spare time, Karoline Hanks is a trail runner and prefers to be up a mountain. Her focus is to try and “turn the tide” in road races in South Africa where single-use plastic sachets are dished out without a second thought.

These two local Noordhoekers share a passion for a plastic-free planet and wish to try and shift behavior and get conversations going wherever possible.

Like their FB page and join the campaign https://www.facebook.com/turningthetidecampaign/ or follow them on Twitter @Tide_SA
