Ubuntu Football Academy is a leadership academy based in Masiphumelele that seeks to mentor and educate the next generation of great African leaders, society-changers, and footballers.
We are the only elite academy in Southern Africa that takes a holistic approach to a player’s development and we continue to provide mentorship and support to our graduates whether they remain in South Africa or move internationally (we currently have 16 players studying on scholarships in the USA). We have our own small, independent school (Grades 7 – 12) which is into its sixth year and we recently celebrated seeing all five of our 2021 Matriculants receive Bachelor Passes. |
In addition, we have our own residence that provides a safe, loving place for 28 of our young men.
Despite the frustration of COVID-19 regulations affecting competitive football, we have recently celebrated a number of very significant milestones.
At the start of 2021 we celebrated our 10 year anniversary by announcing a partnership with current, two-time Norwegian champions, FK Bodø/Glimt, which now means we are South Africa’s only football academy that has a direct pathway into European leagues. We also celebrated seeing graduates Jesse Donn and Luke Fleurs (SuperSport United) receive their call up to the National Squad and, last month, Munashe Garananga, became the first Ubuntu graduate to sign a European Pro Contract with Dynamo Brest, Belarus.
We have managed to achieve a great deal in a competitive market all while trading as a NGO and we rely heavily on sponsorships and would love to increase our support from within the Southern Peninsula.
