The Cape Orchid Society will host their autumn show entitled ‘The Botanical Library’ which will showcase the rich orchid-related literature we hold in our library. Rare texts, encyclopaedias, growing guides, journals, historical records and a variety of library trinkets will transport you back to the dusty halls of libraries of old.
There will be a bounty of unusual and exotic orchids on display. Thousands of orchids will also be on sale. This is a wonderful opportunity for budding orchid enthusiasts to add some real beauties to their windowsills, patios, gardens and shade houses. There will also be hundreds of orchid-related texts on sale.
The show will be held in the Richard Crowie Hall at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 May 2019, from 9am to 5pm on Friday and Saturday and until 4pm on Sunday.
Entrance costs R20 for adults, while pensioners and students pay just R10.
Please note that Kirstenbosch levy their own gate fee.
Daily demonstrations on how to grow orchids in the Cape take place at 11am and 2pm.
