St George’s Festival – Simon’s Town
April 28 @ 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm
The Simon’s Town Business Association (STBA) will be hosting its fifth annual St George’s Festival this year.
Following last year’s success, this will again be an evening market with food stalls, banquet table, Tavern, live music and medieval entertainment for the whole family.
Historically, Simon’s Town was first home to the Dutch East-India Company, then became base to the British Royal Navy and today it is home to the South African Navy. The St George’s Festival is a celebration of the history of Simon’s Town and its journey to independence. The medieval theme of the St George’s Festival goes even further back to the Saint George and the Dragon legend and the age-old fight between good and evil.
Fun activities at the festival will include a photo booth, stocks for those misbehaving and apple bobbing, with St George himself attending! Live music and the traditional banquet table is a great way for people to get together and enjoy the evening, with a great variety of food stalls and the medieval tavern with wine and craft beer for sale. Face painting and a dress-up corner will keep the little ones busy while mom and dad enjoy the festivities on Jubilee Square.
Participating shops and restaurants will also be offering specials and possibly extend their operating hours, so visitors can wander along St George’s Road for more St George’s Festival offerings.
