Brewing the Republic is a documentary, produced by Troye May and directed by Roscoe Kleinloog, on the growth and excitement of craft beer in South Africa.
Having travelled half the country thus far with more to come, we have tasted and enjoyed the variety of beers on offer from the nation. The Documentary aims to provide a visual scope of where we are as a beer loving nation.
Our journey has even included two breweries located in the southern peninsula, Lakeside Breweries and Aegir Project. Both breweries are run with passion and creativity to ensure that their beers have a high quality taste that makes patrons beg for more. Be sure to give their beers a try and if you find yourselves going to the Red Herring, pop in to Aegir Project and give Rory a high five, he is crushing his beers!
Throughout our production we have met amazing people from the Western Cape, Gauteng, Free State and even Limpopo! We wish to showcase a handful of beers and breweries from around the country, as well as give a platform for the passionate people who work behind their beers to be exposed.
But we aren’t so greedy as to hog all the experience ourselves. We have joined forces with The League of Beers and Yuppie Chef to sell mixed cases of beer which we have tasted from around South Africa.
Go to the Yuppie Chef website and search for the “Brewing the Republic” and voila, a mixed case of beer is available for you to purchase and enjoy!
